The club have announced their plan to develop the ground which they hope will receive the backing of the clubs supporters and local community. Details of the clubs community scheme plans will be announced at a later date; however on the club side, constant upgrading of the ground is essential in the club's quest to have in place the necessary ground grading for progression. Also the upgrade of facilities allows the club to be used as a potential venue for professional clubs where the revenue generated is very important in helping keep the club alive and competing at the level it is and the most important factor is it adds to the supporters comfort and benefit. Chief Executive David Murgatroyd said, "We have to keep thinking outside of the box with different projects and try to keep ahead of the requirements'. The progression on the field will need finance generated on a regular basis from a totally different source however if we can utilise our facilities' to help bring in income it obviously helps as has been shown with the Bury FC & Blackburn Rovers FC connection. Further improved developments will help us attract new income, for example a club hosting a premiership or championship reserve side can generate between 10k and 15k per season depending on the usage and arrangement." Murgatroyd further added, "Through the personnel we have at the club we have good connections within the professional game and It is with this in mind that we have projects we would like to see completed and is why we have set up this new initiative." The projects are; the creation of a new entrance which will include new turnstiles, new club shop and a new refreshments unit all break built and the second project is the building of a boundary wall at the Pilkington Road end of the ground. These projects are currently being worked on, prices are being sourced and planning permission has been requested, The club are looking at the prospect of attaining grants, however the club will have to find their own match funding, this can be arranged via materials and of course club funds, "It may be that the costs are beyond what we can afford at this moment in time but we feel it is the correct way forward and to start and create a development fund provides us with the focus to make it work and see it through. We have good connections in the building trade and this could help in the overall project development and we have tradesman amongst our supporters. It is a project that will benefit the supporters with a new purpose built shop and new catering facilities, therefore the club will be hoping supporters will become involved, for it to be a partnership in making it happen and they will be able see the product of their hard work." said Murgatroyd. The club are looking for individual supporters to step forward and form a small working party of 4-6 people to help develop and raise funds for the fund. Murgatroyd was also quick to point out this would have no bearing on the funds available for team strengthening, "It is totally different, the funds for team development will have to come from a different income source altogether which we are always working towards and that needs to be in the form of investment and support from local events and fund raising initiatives. The completion of these projects however will help raise new income for team development in the future." The development fund will begin on Tuesday July 13th against Bury FC and details of how you can contribute can be accessed by clicking onto the development fund link which will be in place on the new website. The fund can be easily accessed and monitored on the club's website with pledges and donations' both in monies, labour and materials by individuals listed and recorded, all the proceeds are to be deposited in a separate development account solely for the use of the projects listed organised by Graham Fielding the clubs Company secretary and a recognised member of the supporters group involved in the working party.
